Our Exclusive House Beers

Foxy’s Munich Lager  4.3% Germany
Style- German Lager

Foxy’s Munich Lager is a true German beer that fits perfectly into our upcoming German Theme at the Downey Brewing.  Our first house beer was named in honor of the famous landmark coffee shop “Foxy’s” that many Downey residents patronized in years past.  This beer has a crystal-clear gold color, with a frothy white head.  With its delicate body and dry finish, Foxy’s is sure to become a local favorite.  Link www.thedowneybrewing.com


3rd St. ALT    5.2%  USA
Style- German Style Alt (Altbier)

3rd St. ALT is the second exclusive house beer at the Downey Brewing Company.  Our brewmaster has created a unique style of beer that is not very prevalent in the Southern California area.  ALT is the name given to a form of German top-fermenting beer.  The name alt, which literally means (old style beer) refers to the pre-lager brewing methods of using a warm top-fermenting yeast.  Link www.thedowneybrewing.com


Downey Blonde  4.40%  California
Style- American Blonde Ale

This American Blonde Ale bears the name of the city of Downey and with great respect we offer this summer time favorite, all year round.  Downey Blonde is brewed in the old style of the German Kölsch.
Downey Blonde pours to a light gold color and has distinct honey sweetness in every sip.  A smooth beer with an even smoother finish; evidence of the hops and malt that make Downey Blonde a unique beer.  Enjoy!


John Gately Downey German Dunkel  5.0%  Germany
Style- Munich Dunkel                                                                                            
Our fourth beer is named in honor of the first foreign born governor in California- John Gately Downey.  Our city is named after this Irish born entrepreneur who had family ties to beer making.  Our dunkel pours to a deep reddish mahogany with a full, foamy tan head.  Flavors like roasted malt, chocolate and grassy hops stand out in every sip of this beer.  Cheers!


IMPORTED BEERS

GUINNESS  4.2%  Dublin, Ireland
Style- Irish Dry Stout

The rise and fall of our bubbles has perplexed PhD physicists.  But all you need to focus on is the taste.  With an initial malt and caramel flavour, GUINNESS Draught finishes with a dry roasted bitterness. Enjoy.

Style- Euro Pale Lager

The best selling Belgium beer in the world.  Stella Artois is the brand of “Supreme Quality and Worth.”

Style- Euro Pale Lager

A pale lager that is perfect for any style or ambiance, Heineken goes down easy and has a refreshing taste with slight hops aftertaste.

Style- Euro Pale Lager

Harp has a nice balanced sweet bitter concoction that drinks nicely.  A medium gold color pour and distinct malt flavor in every sip.

Style- Irish Red Ale

BASS  5.0%  England
Style- English Pale Ale

Its amber color and caramely sweet aroma set the stage for a flavor that starts out very sweet and finishes strong when a light, hop bitterness kicks in at the end.

HOEGAARDEN  5.0% Belgium
Style- Witbier

Hoegaarden (pronounced who - gar -den) is a Belgian-style wit (or white). It is a Wheat beer with a distinctive hazy, yellow color. The aroma is slightly spicy, with coriander and orange. The taste is slightly sweet, with slight citrus sourness.





CHIMAY TRIPLE  8.0%  Belgium
Style- Tripel

Named Cinq Cents in (25.4 fl. oz.) bottles, this beer with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterized by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast.

Style- American Style Premium Lager

Shock Top is an unfiltered Belgian-style wheat ale (also known as a “White” or “Wit” beer due to its appearance) that is naturally cloudy with a billowy white foam head, light golden hue and slight taste of orange peel and coriander.

Style- American Pale Wheat Ale

Created by the Widmer Bros. in Protland.  An American-style Hefenweizen, of German origin, Hefenweizen (hay-fa-vite-sen) translates to “yeast” and “wheat” creating a cloudy body.  Link www.widmer.com




SAMUEL ADAMS CHERRY WHEAT  5.2%  Boston, Massachusetts
Style- Witbier

Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey.  The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops.

Style-  American Red Ale

Named in honor of Jeff Lepesch’s (founder of new belgium brewery) bike trip through Belgium.  Belgian beers use a far broader pallet of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles.  Link www.newbelgium.com




STONE INDIA PALE ALE  6.9%  Escondido, California
Style- India Pale Ale

If you're a hop-head like us, then you;ll love Stone India Pale Ale!  Medium malt character with a heavy dose of over the top hops!  Generous 'dry hopping" gives this beer its abundant hop aroma and crisp flavor.  An "India Pale Ale" by definition is highly hopped and high in alcohol, and you'll find Stone India Pale Ale to be true to style with a huge hop aroma, flavor and bitterness throughout.  Link- www.stonebrew.com


STONE SMOKED PORTER  5.9%  Escondido, California
Style- Porter

Stone Smoked Porter is dark, rich and complicated. A porter is substantially darker than a pale ale, but not as black or opaque as a stout.  Stone Smoked Porter has a captivatingly deep mahogany color, complimented by a silky, dark tan head.  Rich full bodied and robust, it is also smooth, with chocolate and coffee-like flavors balanced by the subtle "smoky" character of just the right amount of peat-smoked specially malt. Terrific with meats and desserts!

PREMIUM FRAMBOISE  2.8%  Belgium
Style- Lambic Beer

Premium raspberry is a beer made from traditional Gueuze Lambic, to which 25 per cent of fresh raspberry juice and natural sugar is added.  A clear, dark red beer is obtained with a pink head.  Link www.vanhonsebrouck.be

Style- Lambic Beer
